Five years ago, renowned artist Damien Hirst was invited by Disney to develop a piece inspired by Mickey Mouse. The result, “Mickey,” which recalled Hirst’s iconic spot paintings, was reproduced into a series of poster-size prints sold by the art publisher Other Criteria. In early 2014, Christie’s auctioned “Mickey” for just over $1.5 million, donating a portion of the proceeds to Kids Company, an organization that supports inner-city children in the U.K.
Now, the Mouse is back. In association with Other Criteria, Marc Jacobs and Hirst have collaborated on a T-shirt version of “Mickey” to benefit the charity. The limited-edition tops are priced at $58 for children’s seize and $98 for adult and are available in both Marc Jacobs and Other Criteria stores and online at MarcJacobs.com
Marc Jacobs and Other Criteria will proudly donate 100% of the proceeds of the sale of this t-shirt to Kids Company.
