Going beyond the traditional commercial offering, the Balmain x Evian unprecedented capsule collection offers an extension testing, both creatively and technically, the possibilities of sustainability in fashion.
Relying on a wide variety of eco-friendly practices, materials and innovations, the Balmain x Evian collection of laid-back styles and accessories places the collaboration’s focus squarely on the powerful possibilities of a future world of fashion sustainability, all grouped under the distinctive tagline of “Together, change is beautiful.”
“With this second Balmain x evian capsule, we aim to make very clear that conscience and creativity can actually work quite well together,” said Olivier Rousteing.
Deftly pairing classic sportswear silhouettes with soft shades of pastel that one immediately associates with Balmain runways, and the evian universe, and, above all, the joys of summer Creative Director Olivier Rousteing and his design team have created a series of eye-catching, limited-edition ready-to-wear and accessory designs for the second Balmain x Evian collaboration – making it very clear that sustainability can definitely be Balmain runway ready.
Olivier Rousteing and his design team, determined to continue pushing the possibilities of sustainable fashion as far as possible, worked to incorporate a wide variety of materials—including GOTS-certified1 organic cottons, FSC-certified2 viscose and several GRS-Certified3 recycled materials—into the extensive offering of swimsuits, tees, hoodies, bombers, trucker jackets and jeans. Balmain and evian’s shared commitments to eco-friendly practices can be spotted in even the smallest details, including recycled polyester label and composition stickers, paper packaging that relies on pulp from sustainably managed FSC-certified forests and recycled plastic hangers and bags.
Most of the capsule’s everyday summer looks play with new takes on soft pastels, with a host of interesting gradient treatments. A beautifully embroidered short blue dress, crafted by the Balmain atelier using Forest Stewardship Council certified viscose, makes it very clear that sustainability can definitely be Balmain runway ready.
