UGG tells their story through the Golden State’s topography and people.
August 22, 2017
Meet the UGG Fall 2017 Collective, a group of creative who embody the brand’s values and the spirit of their home state, California. This season includes an actor, artist, surfer, snowboarder, a group of musicians, and a photographer and his muse.
Like UGG, they are provocative, progressive, free-spirited, sensual, optimistic and warm. Each season, UGG selects new groups of unique individuals to represent the brand and in telling their stories, the brand tells theirs.
Sonic Youth co-founder and visual artist Kim Gordon embodies contradiction, making her one of the most interesting and powerful cultural figures today. Kyle MacLachlan is dedicated to his craft and exhibits an uncanny mastery of the nuanced area between congeniality and menace. Zackery Michael is a self-taught fashion photographer based out of Brooklyn, New York, but he spends most of his time on the road with his free-spirited model girlfriend and muse, Lola McDonnell. Daniel Hivner grew up on skateboards, surfboards, and snowboards. When he’s not at home in LA or traveling the world for work, he treks between Big Bear and Mammoth with his guitar in tow. Uzumaki Cepeda is a Dominican American who works in many mediums, including photography, she is renowned for her faux fur installations, one of which was featured at the first-ever ComplexCon in 2016. The Garden is a conceptual band that consists of twin brothers Wyatt and Fletcher Shears, who value creative expression above convention and borrows from punk, hip hop, new wave, and goth to name a few. Hanalei Reponty, or the “mermaid from the island of Tahiti,” has spent most of her life traveling the world as a professional surfer, but she now calls San Clemente home.
From majestic mountains and wild woodlands, to buzzing cities and quiet beach towns, California represents an eclectic paradise that brings together people from all across the world. For their new campaign, UGG and the cast traveled across the state, finding locations that represent the culture of the brand and California alike.
