The Artycapucines Collection sees six contemporary artists bring their unique visions to Louis Vuitton’s iconic Capucines bag.

With the limited-edition Louis Vuitton Artycapucines collection, the Capucines bag’s distinctive design and silhouette provides and ideal “blanck canvas” for six leading international artists: Sam Falls, Urs Fischer, Nicholas Hlobo, Alex Israel, Tschabalala Self, and Jonas Wood.
First launched in 2013 and named after Rue des Capucines, the Parisian street on which Louis Vuitton opened his first store in 1854, the Capucines bag has quickly become a contemporary classic. The Artycapucines collection is further proof of Louis Vuitton’s unique ability to aid artists bring their ideas to life by combining its passion for constant innovation with its traditions of artisanal savoir-faire.
Sam Falls’ limited edition line began as a large original artwork that is reproduced in all its delicacy, depth and texture using a jacquard weave, high-definition printing and precise handmade embroidery.
Urs Fischer’s collection transforms a white Taurillon Capucines BB into a hanging sculpture with the addition of six hyper-realistic, hand-painted silicone pieces of fruit and vegetables.
Nicholas Hlobo’s handbag echoes Louis Vuitton’s Monogram canvas through a flower growing organically from the Capucines PM’s interior with hand-laced embroidery, blue tones and contrasting texture.
Alex Israel brings renowned California wave to life on this bold Capucines PM. As the waves of lustrously coloured leather glisten, two decorative, yet functional surfboard fins emerge: one has a comb attached, the other a mirror.
Tschabalala Self’s exceptional patchwork of nineteen types of leather, includes colorful touches of precious lizard leather with 200 hand-cut and painted shapes, making each piece unique.
Jonas Wood is inspired by his paintings with over 200,000 stitches to create a rich tactile texture and a matt pink LV logo.
