The No. 21 Resort 2019 collection exhibits a sensuality and glamour, adding all of Alessandro Dell’ Acqua’s favorite obsessions with his signature masculine-feminine.
“Now more than ever I have a feeling for real women with lots of self-confidence and personality, with a mature, grown-up attitude,“ he said. “When we had to shoot the Resort lookbook, I asked my friend Aymeline Valade to model in it. She’s an actress and a woman with a strong presence, just what I needed to get my message through.”
The collection featured a roomy bomber jacket was completely embroidered in silver macro-sequins and lined in hyper-bright peony silk faille; a short shift dress in flame-red, shiny PVC was doubled in frilly white macramé lace. A tailored tuxedo/pajama suit made in rich gold brocade with silver cuffs and lapels felt supple and looked quite sensational.
“What I want right now is womanly elegance, a less abstract idea of femininity,” he said. “A sort of casual couture style.” There was a series of delightfully feminine ‘40s-inspired silk crêpe dresses in shades of egg yolk and forest green. A miniskirt in sparkling sequins with a trailing duchesse sash was worn with a matching top, embellished with a riot of ruches, feathers, and Swarovski crystals. A very chic overcoat in silk ottoman was printed in classic toile de jouy motifs.
