The Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood Spring 2019 bridal collection introduces a new spin to bridalwear with many styles
A gender neutral and personal choice for the times we live in, Andreas thinks: “Sustainability (wearing it more than once), mix and match pieces in shades of white and various fabrics & textures.”
Honouring Vivienne’s work in fashion and drawing inspiration from traditional Austrian folk costumes, dresses are carefully handcrafted and sometimes embellished with flower embroideries. Asymmetrical slinky dresses in rubber and satin, say goodbye to acres of taffeta.
Frills and ruffles frame clinging silhouettes with built-in corsetry in crushed silk twill, tulle and silk jacquard. Organza corsets rose printed or embellished, are combined with taffeta skirts steeped in history. Instead of shoulder straps, men’s braces in moiré, hold up corsets, laced up cavalier pants and turn skirts into dresses. Bridal veils form an integral part of the dress but are detachable or can be worn many ways – and are inspired by youth culture and cosmopolitan ethnicity.
Experimental cutting techniques, using squares and organic shapes, underline the unique effortless style and distinctive beauty. Whether you are looking for a sexy shirtdress, a glamourous trouser suit or a show stopping gown, our collection offers diverse looks for every bride’s personality.
