LOUIS VUITTON FALL 2018 RTW COLLECTION

LOUIS VUITTON FALL 2018 RTW COLLECTION

Travel in time as Louis Vuitton presents Fall collection with medieval details with a modern edge.

March 12, 2018

For The Louis Vuitton Fall 2018 collection, the Maison held its show inside the Louvre Museum, capturing the essence of Paris.

The collection was an invitation to travel between past and future. Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière closed Paris Fashion Week with a new version of French chic, revisiting classics and reinventing the House’s iconic signatures. A new wardrobe between past and future for a modern woman.

Instead of Louis XV frock coats and pneumatic running shoes, we saw skirtsuits and other accoutrements of the haute bourgeois leavened with details like shoulder-spanning stripes and an LV logo that could possibly have been lifted from spaceship uniforms, given the setup. Metal chains and doodads elaborately trimmed cropped jackets; dense beadwork decorated the oddly asymmetrically draped halter tops for evening.

Flat envelope bags and large totes printed with what looked like computer motherboard circuitry were the new developments on that front. Fluid, snap-front shirtdresses, for example, were spliced above the shoulders with that striped spaceship uniform. The high-tech wizardry notwithstanding, the lasting impression was this collection’s chic wearability.

Among the numerous guests were, Emma Stone, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Connelly, Léa Seydoux, Sophie Turner, Sienna Miller, Laura Harrier, Catherine Deneuve, Isabelle Huppert, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Ruth Negga, Justin Theroux, Chloë Grace Moretz, Woodkid, Jaden Smith, Doona Bae, Fan Bingbing, Paul Bettany, Noomi Rapace, Xavier Dolan, and Édgar Ramírez and many others who attended the Louis Vuitton show.
