Creative Directors Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen mastered the subtle gesture, however The Row Resort 2018 collection spotlights bold shapes.
The collection included 19 tiny buttons that march down a duster coat, the yards upon yards of taffeta they used for a pair of deconstructed ball gowns, and the multi-ply cashmere of a patchworked tunic dress trailing fringe at the seams.
If it was extravagant, however, it was also understated; as usual, the collection was print-free. The Olsens favor texture to create interest. The most compelling of the super-luxe materials here was a silk seersucker that was patchworked like their cashmere and appeared to have been washed, with a crinkled, lived-in feel.
They also favor neutrals, with few exceptions. What these black-and-white photos don’t reveal is that the V-neck taffeta gown with bell sleeves is a luscious shade of pink.
