Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, the brand’s Creative Directors present ‘Cabiria, Charity, Chastity,’ a new film which presents the Kenzo Fall 2017 collections.
The film marks award-winning actress and producer Natasha Lyonne’s directorial debut; it follows Chastity played by Maya Rudolph as a modern-day Giulietta Masina and Shirley Maclaine on a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance.
The film also stars Lyonne, Fred Armisen, Greta Lee, James Ransone, Matt Lucas, Macaulay Culkin, Waris Ahluwalia, Leslie Odom Jr.
Through Lyonne’s surrealist eye, the lead character learns to reconcile with her Vaudevillian past in order to step into her life more fully. We witness Chastity’s journey through the eloquence of incoherence. It’s about the illusion of significance in a surreal, unjust and often unintelligible world, yet finding meaning within it and retaining a form of hope in despite of it. Chastity finds an uncompromising way of realizing reality is a kind of absurdity.
Lyonne has also drafted in a team of talents from the world of film to work on the project, notably director of photography Chung-hoon Chung (Oldboy, Stoker, The Handmaiden), Academy Award nominated costume designer Arianne Phillips (Walk The Line, Nocturnal Animals, Hedwig and the Angry Inch), make-up artist Kabuki, hairstylist Holli Smith and music by John Maus. Production by Ways & Means.
