Tory Burch approached Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert to direct a video campaign featuring model Jessica Hart. The Tory Story stirs up the familiar feelings of anticipation and excitement pre-getaway: in her bedroom, the model plans her wardrobe- full of Burch’s effortlessly chic satchels, printed day dresses and smoking slippers, naturally- before jetting off to a tropical island for some fun in the sun with friends.

Stripes are an everlasting trend — “classic, like leopard and camo,” says Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert — but there’s a fresh take on stripes that takes them in a cool, new direction. Tory’s Lucea sweater, for instance, mixes ruffles and linear patterns while the Lucea maxi skirt subtly reworks the striped look so it resembles an abstract animal print. With its pretty accordion pleats, the latter folds in a touch of Op Art, too.

“Wearing sequins or festive and detailed outfits completely boosts your mood,” says Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert of the metallics trend. “It puts you into the holiday spirit right away! What you are wearing become a conversation piece.” And when it comes to gift-giving, the fashion editor, stylist and creative director adds, “Accessories are always one of the best gifts. The more they shine, the better.”
