For Salvatore Ferragamo‘s Resort 2026 collection, Maximilian Davis explores the idea of timeless, essential elegance through the generations of clothing found in an Italian wardrobe.

Refined through a contemporary perspective, echoes of disparate eras appear and align: the delicate lace of 1920s lingerie now transposed into daywear; a mid-century cocooning silhouette informing a double face cashmere coat; the expressive eighties glamour of a shearling shrug.

The once-perceived exoticism of animal prints and leathers is translated onto dresses whose drape distorts their pattern or appears ethereally transposed onto shirting and elegant kaftans. The texture of crocodile is stamped across the toes of menswear Tramezza Oxfords, dissolving across the upper into a glossy sheen. What emerges is the discrete eclecticism of a wardrobe comprising beloved pieces conceived and crafted to last lifetimes.

In footwear, the lace of a 1930s shoe designed by Salvatore becomes the macrame body of a new pump with a cigarette stiletto, and a 1968 buckled pump is refigured through a fresh lens, with contrasting leather and a Gancini detail. A new, pointed bootie is crafted in black patent leather with zebra-printed pony hair while glimmers of gold come courtesy of eel loafers and wedge mules. Ferragamo red remains present through elegant, round-toed sandals.

In handbags, a multi-purpose tote debuts in caramel eel skin with a golden Gancini closure, while a soft, rounded bucket bag inspired by a nineties silhouette is reformed and reintroduced. Reflecting Ferragamo’s craft and heritage, the iconic Soft Hug silhouette is formed with a hand-woven leather handle and a roomy tote is woven from leather in a Vienna straw pattern, slouching and relaxed in its form.
