JACQUEMUS FIRST AMERICAN BOUTIQUE IN NEW YORK CITY

Jacquemus has opened the doors to “The New York Boutique,” the brand’s first store in the US.

Located in Manhattan’s SoHo, designer Simon Porte Jacquemus sought to bring Parisian and Provincial influences to the Jacquemus flagship store, inspired by the neighborhood’s history of artistic vibrancy. Situated within a brick 19th-century townhouse, the space spans 2,906 square feet cross two floors.

Jacquemus worked with the architecture firm OMA on the boutique, which sees a 19th-century townhouse and a more modern extension from the early 2000s united by whitewashed walls and flooring in Pierre de Bourgogne French limestone.

The focal point is a sweeping staircase with a wrought-iron handrail, inspired by the work of architect Jacques Couëlle—a “big, beautiful gesture,” as Jacquemus sees it. The result marries modernity with a more rustic, revel-in-the-imperfections sensibility.

OMA focused on curating the interior to be both minimalistic and warm, using light wood and white stucco. The floor tiling is inspired by French castle pavements, while an Italian iron artisan was commissioned to craft the clothing racks and staircase railings. Banana yellow curtains provide a pop of color.

This is the first Jacquemus flagship in the U.S. and only its second outside of Paris.
