The Marni x RetroSuperFuture Pre-Fall 2024 eyewear collection is handmade in Italy using a unique formula patented in 1849 by the world’s first cellulose acetate manufacturer.

In a meticulous process that takes over three months, the unique pieces that make up the colorful pattern of the glasses are moulded into a single block, which is then cooled, carved and worked over and over to create the eccentric shape. This means that not only is every pair of glasses different from the other. But its thermal adaptability allows it to fit the wearer’s face perfectly.

Like a bespoke dress, each pair is a small masterpiece of Italian craftsmanship. Sustainability is not neglected either: fewer and fewer solvents and more and more biodegradable materials make up each pair of glasses, in a constant avant-garde of research that goes beyond the world of fashion.

Like the cooling lava of a volcano, the red and off-white reflective chips of the Key Island and Ik Kil Cenote models in their earthy magma, with their ever- changing pattern, in an extraordinary explosion of colors amplified by the oversized rims around the lenses.
