In high gladiator sandals or platforms, gaze covered by oversized sunglasses, neat clutch or hobo bag in her hands, the Tom Ford woman this season either covers up in floor-skimming, billowy caftans and dresses that nonetheless leave little to the imagination or bares the legs in short trapeze dresses and patent miniskirts paired with tank tops or knitted turtleneck. Her tailored suits are slim, with flaring trousers and worn with frilly blouses; suede mini dresses and metal mesh sheath dresses have a bold yes slinky appeal. The look is graphic and erotic, echoing both 1960s modernism and the edgy sleekness of the 1990s.

The color palette is an evolving kaleidoscope of textured chalk and black with deep tones of magenta, degrade jewel pink and powder pink, degrade azure blue, with tones of jade and emerald. Materials give substance to colors: lurex tailoring wool, silk georgette, patent leather, liquid jersey, silk twill, wet look silk.
