CHANEL RESORT 2023 COLLECTION

From Paris to the Riviera, Chanel heads to Monte-Carlo for the Cruise collection by Virginie Viard.

May 10, 2022

Inspired by the cosmopolitan beach lifestyle of Monaco and the Maisons’ history along the Côte d’Azur, the Chanel Resort 2023 collection reveals silhouettes with an abundance of black and white swimsuits, glamorous sequins, and ensembles in breezy crochet.

“To me, Monaco is a matter of feelings above all. That’s Karl, Caroline, Charlotte,” says Virginie Viard. “From very early on, I knew we would hold a show there, and more precisely at the Beach Hotel. Besides, Karl was dreaming about it. From this magnificent venue, one can glimpse his villa, La Vigie. I will never forget the times I spent there: terraces and balconies, big umbrellas, baskets of flowers – so much beauty.”

Driver’s jumpsuits in printed tweed or silk, on the racing circuit. T-shirts embroidered with patches and flowers, a draped bustier and long skirt made of ivory lace in the bedroom or on the balcony of Karl Lagerfeld’s villa, La Vigie. Swimsuits and a graphic black and white sweater in the pool and on the beach of the Monte-Carlo Beach hotel where the show was held.

Inspired by the Monte-Carlo ballet and the dancers’ pointe shoes, black satin shoes are adorned by thin strass buckles. Bags are shaped like tennis racquets. The flowy and shiny swimming suits are twisted into asymmetrical black skirts or draped dresses.
