Zendaya emerges from a dark doorway onto a sun-soaked street wearing an electric blue silk top and billowing plum cape to join her community in the Valentino Rendez-Vous campaign. The Spring 2022 campaign was inspired by the concepts of motion and the intimate interaction between the inside and the outside.

The Spring/Summer 2022 ad campaign was shot and filmed at the Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles, California. The soothing yet joyous tune of “Crystalised” by The XX plays as Zendaya twirls through the set, her body in harmony with the various people she encounters. Piccioli himself makes a cameo as well as celebrity stylist Law Roach. They interact with Zendaya and help her put together the perfect outfit.

The ad campaign looks like a movie from the ‘80s. The camera continuously follows the model throughout her journey, even as the set, lighting, and costumes continue to change. Cinematographers Marcell Rev (who also works on Euphoria) and Scott Sakamoto operate the camera, exploring the never-ending possibilities of light and shadow. Zendaya’s vibrant and bold outfits juxtapose the neutral backstage that was conceived by film art director Happy Massee.
