PROENZA SCHOULER PRE-FALL 2022 COLLECTION
A sense of freedom and movement influenced by urban athleticism, contrasted with decorative notes of a more fanciful nature.

The Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2022 collection builds off codes first introduced in the Spring 2022 season, while introducing novel ideas that will be the starting point for Fall 2022. Clean, noble, and almost classic materials are reimagined through cut and technique in the service of creating a complete and contemporary wardrobe for the intelligent, urban woman of today.
Vibrant color, animal print, and sharp silhouettes are juxtaposed with soft, unconstructed suiting and easy knit dressing. Masculine and feminine codes coexist in the collection, sometimes within a single garment, pointing to a duality of spirit that feels relevant to today. A shirtdress cut from silk jersey retains its essential menswear attitude on top, but dissolves into a spray of pleats from hip to hem. The bike short re-appears, this time contradicted with ostrich feathers at the hem, demonstrating the kind of juxtapositions that informed the genesis of the collection. A floor-length sequin dress is cinched at the front-waist softening its drape and allowing for a dramatic caped back. Viscose crepe and jersey continue to be important as a way of molding garments to the body while allowing for movement, stretch, and ease.
A mix of lengths and proportions are explored, with coats cut above the wrist and layered over slim, long-sleeved jersey shirting, and dresses worn over slim pants, unzipped at the hem allowing them to spill over the shoe. Animal prints re-appear this season, made luxe in haircalf, and cut into everything from coats to dresses to accessories. A zebra print is reimagined into an abstract lightweight technical jacquard suit. Elements of the hand re-appear this season, this time in the form of beaded crochet on dresses.
The Braid Bag is introduced as a utilitarian and pragmatic silhouette and made notable with the addition of an oversized braided leather strap. The Dia Day Bag and North South Tobo Tote re-appear in new materials, including printed haircalf and embossed lizard. Footwear grounds the collection with attitude and purpose with key silhouettes being a square backless loafer, and a loafer boot, rendered in neoprene and box calf. The new heeled glove boot in shiny colorful patent rounds out the editorial offer.
