The Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2021 collection is inspired by ‘J is for Joy’ from the McCartney A to Z Manifesto – an optimistic, energetic, colorful vision, elevating performance wear archetypes and refocusing them with softness, sensuality and fluidity.

The season is energized by a bold use of color across varied and vibrant shades of pink, green, blue, red, orange and yellow. The freshness is balanced with a neutral palette of camel, khaki, grey, butter, cream, navy, ink, black and white. Texture is central, felt in soft recycled polyester Teddy Mat and smooth Alter Mat vegan leather.

The sensual sport of skiwear inspires multicolored forest-friendly viscose dresses, recycled nylon jackets and sliced knits with wide shoulders and narrow waists, youthfully belted with bum bags. This vibrant color story is elaborated on by bodycon floral dresses in a stretch organic cotton jersey, riffing on patterned 90s swimsuits.

Bringing balance is a paired-back tonal wardrobe including a collared trench and shrunken 1940s-style blouse, form-fitting and voluminous trousers and short dresses – refined with white contrast stitching detailing. Encrusted lace serves strong shapes and a joyful, whimsical wave in Stella’s signature free hand to a series of dresses in black and lemon yellow.

Energizing a sense of movement, activeness and comfort, knitwear includes clean, compact knit tracksuits balanced by traditional British chunky knit Aran and classic Stella intarsia jumpers. A playful relationship with texture is felt in mixtures of Fur Free Fur and furry knits, combinations of shirting and sweaters and a dichotomy of exposed metal zips and soft wool.

Vegan and cruelty-free bags include the iconic Falabella, playfully exaggerated as an oversized Maxi edition for Autumn 2021. Frayme is a bold new style remixing classic brand codes, with a chunky chain strap that runs around the entire bag as well as a statement medallion inspired by artist Carl Auböck. Capturing the optimistic sportiness of the season are bright, patchworked Fannee belt bags with bungee cords and buckle closures in recycled nylon.

As always, Stella McCartney is committed to being leather, feather, fur and skin-free; all shoes and bags are vegan and cruelty-free. The collection is created with 80% eco-friendly materials.
