adidas by Stella McCartney stars activists in the latest campaign for the first street sport-inspired collection.

The adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2021 ad campaign and collection, FUTUREPLAYGROUND, is inspired by ‘land’, taking design cues from street sports and the female skate crews.

Creative reins were handed over to female creators, Netti Hurley, Monika Mogi and Anna Pollack who cast a series of activists, including Lourdes Leon, to bring the collection to life

“The directors and cast from across the globe who brought this conscious campaign to life are incredibly diverse in both their backgrounds and their beliefs,” said Stella McCartney. “I love seeing how each individual is working to protect the planet or their community in their own way, and how they’ve each captured the collection in settings that celebrate their environment – serving as another reminder as to why it’s so important we strive to protect it.”

The striking collection sits at the intersection of high fashion and next-level performance, using the latest material technologies, including adidas’ Ready temperature management technology – designed to keep next-gen athletes and activists dry and comfortable as they move, from skating to cycling. The collection has sustainability at its heart as part of adidas by Stella McCartney’s enduring ambition to end plastic waste, using Primeblue – a high-performance recycled material made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic; upcycled plastic waste which has been intercepted on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities and shorelines, preventing it from polluting the ocean – and Primegreen, a high-performance yarn made with 50% recycled content.
