The Balmain Heritage 1945 handbag collection—the House’s latest offering—salutes that audacious spirit of Balmain’s founder in the post-war period.
For this new line, Creative Director Olivier Rousteing was inspired by Pierre Balmain’s strongest mid-century designs to create a bold collection of soft leather and jacquard bags, in a variety of sizes and shapes.
The repeating “PB” references the founder and his House, while the motif reflects Pierre Balmain’s fascination with the labyrinths of France’s most beautiful Renaissance gardens.
All the eight bags of the new collection are produced in Italy and each relies on unique golden embellishments. Of course, gold medallions, gilded buttons and golden symbols have adorned the houses’ creations since Pierre Balmain’s earlies days, and they are a share signature of the collections of both Pierre Balmain and Olivier Rousteing.
