The short film of the Miu Miu Women’s Tales ‘In My Room’ was presented in a special screening at the 77th edition of the Venice Film Festival. ‘In My Room’ is a nod to comforting femininity produced by fashion house Miu Miu as part of their Women’s Tales series this season. In this short film series, it is between these passionate snippets of film that we discover the very essence of the Miu Miu brand.

“When Miu Miu proposed to me to make a film for Women’s Tales during confinement, in the midst of a health and social crisis, I thought it was a very delicate exercise but also a challenge that confronted me with essential questions about my practice as a filmmaker,” said Director Mati Diop.

The source of the film was mostly based on the discovery of audio recordings she made of her grandmother, Maji, which she was listening to for the very first time. Their conversations were recorded during the three last years before she passed away. They took place in the small living room of her apartment, in bourgeois 17th arrondissement, where she lived alone and confined for more than 20 years.
