The Chopard 2020 Red Carpet collection has been unveiled with 73 high jewels with the name and number of pieces being significant due to its long association with the Cannes Film Festival. Each year the luxury brand releases jewels that coincide with the number of years that the international film festival has been in held. The new creations are unveiled annually on the red carpet during the opening night of the event, worn by internationally famous movie stars and models.
Caroline Scheufele, Chopard co-president and artistic director, creates the theme of each year’s Red Carpet Collection and designs the jewels. The pieces are produced at the Chopard ateliers, located in Geneva, which the brand says are the largest high jewelry workshops in Switzerland. Its artisans include sculptor-jewelers, lapidaries, gem-setters and polishers. From the start the number of jewels produced each year has been daunting and each year as the number increases, so does the difficulty for the workshop to produce the one-of-a-kind pieces.
This year’s collection is nature-inspired featuring animals in whitewashed winter environments contrasted by colorful depictions of flora. Chopard says all of its high jewels are made of Fairmined certified ethical gold while all its diamonds are sourced from suppliers that are certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council.
