The beauty of the outdoors becomes David Koma's main motivator for the Cruise collection.

The gardens of Hascombe Court in Surrey, England, which were designed by Gertrude Jekyll in the Twenties becomes the venue for the David Koma Resort 2021 collection lookbook and the source of inspiration.
For a city dweller like Koma, known for his futuristic outlook, this was an opportunity to reconnect with nature. He became in awe of the serene visuals and the ever-changing landscape outside his window and let nature become his motivator during the design process.
“I feel it’s important to stay true to yourself and stay true to what you believe no matter what,” says David Koma from his London studio. What that means in the Koma universe is glamour—but how to marry the sexy, slinky appeal of a Koma piece with the slouchy, ready-for-Zoom aesthetic of work from home fits.
The stretch corsets feel more like loungewear, for the Cruise collection, and are able to be tucked into stretch patent leather bike shorts or a knit miniskirt in a bright bubblegum pink. Long crystal mesh dresses are layered with knitwear or slouchy blazers, and even a neon green metallic off-the-shoulder dress has four-way stretch.
By fusing in new elements of comfort and emphasizing a more streamlined silhouette, Koma is showing he can adapt to a changing world.
