The Row Pre-Fall 2020 collection focuses on a sense of reduction in a fashionable and very relevant way where luxury is making your life easier.
Starting to talk about the Pre-Fall, which was laid out in a gallery, Olsen cautioned: “We’re not a trend-driven business. Everything here is reimagined from something. It’s pretty practical. We try to make sure it has consistency because our clients rely on us. I don’t know if that’s what an editor wants to hear?”
The Row’s latest collection features fluid trousers and a double-breasted jacket, as well as the Carhartt-style cream shirt and matching pants. The designers have become versatile solution-creators in a world where so many clothes are single-use.
“We try to be thoughtful. It’s everything for every day. There aren’t really tricks,” said Olsen.
A new handbag was featured in the collection: the flat, pliable hobo bag shown in Looks One and Eight. Close up, it has a narrow gold framework and a toggle-and-bar fastening inside, which is so tiny and refined, it handles like jewelry.
