Dice Kayek opens its very first boutique on the premises of an iconic art gallery in Saint-Germain-des-Près.

Naturally, the brand chose a former iconic art gallery on Rue Saint Benoît to house Dice Kayek‘s first flagship store in Paris. Located in the very heart of Saint-Germain-des-Près, the epicenter of Parisian culture and intellectual life, it is steeped in the talent of artists and alive with the souls of philosophers, writers, poets and filmmakers. Dating back to the 1950s, its classical austerity is somewhat reminiscent of Italian rationalism.

Although Ece and Ayse Ege, the two Turkish sisters behind Dice Kayek, settled in Paris’ Saint-Germain-des-Près quarter more than 20 years ago, they remain deeply influenced by the splendor of the culture and traditions of their native city Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman sultans.

Architect Bernard Dubois has designed a simple, low-key setting for the Dice Kayek pieces. The store is architecturally consonant with the fashion designer’s approach while remaining discreet so that it does not outshine the collections. In line with Dice Kayek’s approach to fashion, the store plays on the codes and references of different eras and origins, using traditional materials in a modern style. The creation of two majestic marble walls is, for example, a veiled reference to Mies Van der Rohe’s Barcelona Pavilion. Taking advantage of the building’s exposed structure, crossed with columns and concrete beams, the marble walls rise to mid-height, coming to rest on the beams.

In an original blend of opulent fabrics and simple lines, Dice Kayek’s ultra-structured looks offer a legendary, awe-inspiring version of femininity. Using craftsmanship of unprecedented luxury and precision, drawing both on French couture and Ottoman expertise, the collection seen in store reveal skillful folds and sumptuous embroidery, meeting all the requirements of haute couture.
