Modeled by Sasha Frolova and cinematography by Katla Sólnes, the Fall collection came from an aficionado of the haute genre. Surely the couture notion crossed some other minds of those exiting the Marc Jacobs show on Wednesday night after what was a dazzling display of fashion.
The collection was filled with capes, oversized coats in muted colors, and several red-carpet–ready gowns. It seemed much more dark and melancholic compared to his last show, which featured bright spring colors. He also abandoned high-voltage makeup in favor of a barely there look. Aside from that, many of the looks were distinctly Jacobsian. Clothes were largely oversized, feathers and ruffles abounded, and many models wore hats.
Jacobs scaled everything back but the fashion impacted. It all coalesced into a haunting dialogue between intimacy and distance.
