PROENZA SCHOULER FALL 2019 AD CAMPAIGN

Proenza Schouler launch a Fall campaign at the same location as their runway show.

August 30, 2019

The Proenza Schouler Fall 2019 ad campaign features models Binx Walton, Lara Mullen, and Lina Zhang captured by fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti.

The Fall collection includes oversize tailoring cut from smart Prince of Wales checks or buff-colored moleskin. Mannish proportions were softened by the deconstructed knits worn underneath the suits and the flashes of bare skin they exposed. Hernandez and McCollough also revived the pleated dress silhouette that’s been successful for them in the past. Here, they did it in compact knits with sash details below the bust. On the runway the sash was worn undone, striking a provocative note, and echoing the bra cup detailing that was their earliest signature, but without any of the girlish frills.

Elaborating on the deconstructed knits—essentially scarves attached to collars—they also played around with the idea of dickies, cinching a leather motorcycle bib or a denim vest over trenches. Hybridization is a much explored concept elsewhere, but these seemed to be two separate pieces, which could lend them a potential versatility.
