The Jenny Packham Fall 2019 collection imagines a wardrobe befitting the myriad dazzling social engagements of a Southern Californian belle at the turn of the decade. These are clothes celebrating the glamour, elegance and decadence of social dressing during a golden age of excess.

If the inspiration of the Autumn Winter collections was Slim Aarons, then the starting point for the mainline collection evolved from the photograph ‘Poolside Gossip’. Taken in the summer of 1970 in Palm Springs, California, the scene is an al fresco drinks party in the garden of a modernist Richard Neutra house, a backdrop of rugged mountains in the distant horizon. In the foreground, two beautiful women lounge by a pool, whilst a third walks towards them, cocktail in hand. It is an image of stylised perfection.
