PRADA RESORT 2019 AD CAMPAIGN

Prada offers another look at its resort 2019 collection with the launch of the ‘Augmented Sunset’ campaign.

January 4, 2019

Captured by Willy Vanderperre, the Prada Resort 2019 ad campaign was shot on location at the Italian brand’s New York Headquarters.

The images realized at Piano Factory, Prada USA New York headquarters, frame models in striking, expressionist panes of scarlet, created by walls of red plexiglass. The effect is a simulacra of a sunset, a synthetic recreation of a natural phenomenon. Inside Piano Factory – the Herzog & de Meuron’s architecture, undressed to the precise, pure concrete structure – these images challenge the divides between interior and exterior, between real and imagined, in a blurring of horizons.

Walls of red plexiglass serve as a red sunset with models Kiki Willems, Anok Yai, Julia Nobis, Meghan Collison, Ariel Nicholson, Mica Argañaraz and Amanda Murphy. Styled by Olivier Rizzo, knit sweaters, leather handbags and vibrant hues round out the season.

For the Resort 2019 runway show, the panels were arranged to either allow for or block out the daylight. Artificial light enhanced reflection and transparency. The dominant light color of the show space was dark silver, red and black. Red panels and lighting system installed on the windows created an “augmented sunset” atmosphere, to enhance the artificiality and to contrast with the daylight outside.

‘Augmented Sunset’ is the title of the reportage recorded after the Prada Resort 2019 fashion show.
