ZADIG & VOLTAIRE SPRING 2019 RTW COLLECTION

Fierce flirtiness takes over the Zadig & Voltaire Spring collection with a different flavor to the house codes.

October 17, 2018

The Zadig & Voltaire Spring 2019 RTW collection featured vintage flower prints with a feminine tone on patchwork jeans and an updated leather jackets.

Pantsuits were styled open over lingerie, or else ultra-short shorts exposed a whole lotta leg. French standbys such as the marinière sweater were reconfigured asymmetrically, revealing the shoulders, while a white eyelet handkerchief dress was shielded by an oversize white leather bomber as a fresh masculine-feminine match. “I want to be feminine and show my determination, and the masculine pieces give that strength,” said artistic director Cecilia Bönström, who, at 48, underscored how she wanted looks to feel relatable for people “from 16 to 56,” adding, “I tried to create pieces that really fit into the real lives of girls and women.”

The Paris via Los Angeles vibe still informed the collection with “girls can do anything” messaging. Bönström compared herself to a “sensor” reading what women want today.
