Shot over the course of six weeks on 16mm film by Greek cinematographer, Thimios Bakatakis, the new rag & bone ‘Time of Day’ film coincides with the launch of the rag & bone Fall 2018 collection.
The film was shot in New York and Los Angeles and features Kate Mara, Boyd Holbrook, Pom Klementieff, Lakeith Stanfield, Reed Morano, Lake Bell, Jon Hamm and Emma Roberts. To capture the spirit of cinema verité, each character was shot by Bakatakis through a handheld approach and using available lighting.
Tripped-back, abstract, a little offbeat— ‘Time of Day’ is a tapestry of human connection. Comprised of eight vignettes, Thimios Bakatakis used natural lighting and a handheld camera approach to capture the spirit of cinema vérité. Timestamps throughout the film represent numbers that add up to 16—a nod to rag & bone’s founding 16 years ago in 2002—while the cast embody our brand’s core values: individuality, quality, and craftsmanship, just to name a few.
In keeping with the brand’s focus on working with original talent and challenging the status quo, the entire film was improvised by the actors and is layered with subtle insider references and Easter eggs that add an element of discovery.
