July 18, 2018
The Louis Vuitton Fall 2018 ad campaign stars a cast of models including Clementine Balcaen, Janaye Furman, Mara Kasanpawiro, Mariam de Vinzelle, Sora Choi, Natalie Westling, Masha Skokova and Sarah Brown.
Marie-Amélie Sauvé styles the shoot which focuses on the Nicolas Ghesquière’s chic designs including mid-length skirts, cropped jackets and voluminous tops. For beauty, Paul Hanlon works on hair with makeup by Peter Philips.
The collection had a space motif with metal chains and doodads elaborately trimmed cropped jackets; dense beadwork decorated the oddly asymmetrically draped halter tops for evening. Flat envelope bags and large totes printed with what looked like computer motherboard circuitry were the new developments on that front.
Skirtsuits and other accoutrements of the haute bourgeois were leavened with details like shoulder-spanning stripes and an LV logo that could possibly have been lifted from spaceship uniforms, given the setup. Fluid, snap-front shirtdresses, for example, were spliced above the shoulders with that striped spaceship uniform.
