Magic hour, when the sun sets and nature awakens, is when the Christian Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum’s rugged sensuality comes alive.

Instead of simply increasing the concentration of the eau de toilette, house perfumer-creator François Demachy enriched the signature freshness of Sauvage with warm spices and vanilla to create a distinct and bold take on the classic fragrance. “I wanted to maintain Sauvage’s character and its confident, very virile temperament while keeping its strong faithful scent,” explains Demachy, who emphasized each of the dominant notes in the original composition and modulated their presence to create a new olfactory landscape.

Opening with zesty Calabrian bergamot, sweet candied lemon, and fresh lavender sourced from Vaucluse and Drôme in southern France, Sauvage Eau de Parfum unleashes a robust and spicy heart of Sichuan pepper and nutmeg from Indonesia. Creamy vanilla absolute and woody Ambroxan (an ingredient derived from precious ambergris) from Papua New Guinea round out the blend and leave behind a sensual trail that is at once masculine and elegant.

Similar to how Demachy preserved many of Sauvage’s distinguishing characteristics within the eau de parfum, the bottle maintains its same recognizable shape. This time, however, the glass is tinged a deeper, more mysterious midnight blue and the inside of the magnetized cap is emblazoned with a bee—a house code for Dior that also represents freedom.
