The Alberta Ferretti Fall 2018 took on a retro vibe with a thread of big-shouldered, high-waisted ’80s aesthetic through it. The runway show housed a giant aluminum sculpture by Lorenzo Quinn in the center of the room.
“Women today have changed, and fashion needs to speak in a different way. It shouldn’t be so correct, it should show personality,” said Ferretti.
The collection featured denim in not just black, but an acid-washed blue, and by sending a for-millennials-only pants-less look down the runway.
Gigi Hadid strutted down the runway with a mohair sweater and Lurex-shot pants and Kaia Gerber in a jumpsuit. The ’80s are a big story of the season. Eveningwear featured tremblant sequins and boudoir-y feathers, was truer to Ferretti’s long-held romantic inclinations. Edita Vilkeviciute looked like a goddess in her metallic lamé Grecian gown.
