VICTORIA BECKHAM FALL 2018 RTW COLLECTION
Victoria Beckham marks 10 years in fashion with an intimate runway show for Fall.
February 16, 2018
This season, marked the beginning of the the brand’s 10th anniversary year. The Victoria Beckham Fall 2018 runway show was a quiet celebration of where the House has come since those very first appointments here in New York, located at the James Burden Mansion on East 91st Street.
The new, more intimate space allowed for the construction and details of the garments to be seen from a new perspective. Silhouettes were sometimes complex, multi-layered and multi-textured. Waists were drawn in tightly with strappy belts, shoulders were emphasised, knits curve 360-degrees at the cuff. The strength of cut, layering and fabrics could be seen and heard, enhancing the sense of three-dimensionality. Silk dresses were either asymmetrically pleated or printed.
With a strong focus on suiting, the collection featured mostly in shades of khaki and browns. A couple of bright shots of color were spotlighted, along with a rich leopard-spot coat that did stand out.
These clothes embraced the contours of the female form, echoing the design aesthetic that I originally started with. Here, a decade on, it was strong – presented in a new elevated and evolved form for my woman today.
