SAINT LAURENT SUMMER 2018 FILM CAMPAIGN

SAINT LAURENT SUMMER 2018 FILM CAMPAIGN

Saint Laurent's latest Summer campaign invites us to a rooftop party with a retro vibe.

January 5, 2018

For the Saint Laurent Summer 2018 ad campaign video, designed by Anthony Vaccarello, models Anja Rubik, Adut Akech, and Raquel Zimmerman dance on a black light-lit rooftop.

Frills and fluorescent materials are flashed between each scene as the ladies groove to New Order’s “Blue Monday.” The ’80s decade is clearly the inspiration behind the oversized silhouettes and geometric shapes that are featured on each of the skin-baring garments.

Directed by the legendary fashion photographers Inez and Vinoodh, the video was shot under neon blacklight and in plumes of smoke, Vaccarello’s striking pieces – from sequined tuxedo blazers to voluminous feather dresses – look like haute couture clubwear trapped in a fever dream.

While still sultry, there’s a notable upgrade in atmosphere from Vaccarello’s original runway show underneath the Eiffel Tower in October last year. What was once a moody, miraculous showcase presented just days after the death of YSL co-founder Pierre Bergé, has now transformed into a lurid rooftop party you’re desperate to get invited to.
