J.W. ANDERSON X UNIQLO COLLABORATION
Uniqlo welcomes a British flair in a new collaboration with designer J.W. Anderson
July 21, 2017
This Fall, Jonathan Anderson will debut his first collaboration with Uniqlo. Taking inspiration from British heritage garments, J.W. Anderson is one of London’s most innovative and forward-thinking designers and has created a timeless new LifeWear collection. This striking collaboration reflects our core values of thoughtfulness, quality, and excellence in material and functionality.
J.W. Anderson says, “Collaborations are incredibly important in design. When I think of Uniqlo, I think of things that are perfectly made, that people have spent a lot of time considering. It’s a difficult job, and I think Uniqlo does it very well. Working with Uniqlo is probably the most incredible template of democracy in fashion, and it’s nice that my designs can be accessible to anyone, on all different levels.”
Fair Isle and cable knits make up a sizable chunk, as do highland tartans and Savile Row stripes. There are practical duffle and trenchcoats for both men and women and even some of the quilted pieces that Anderson once riffed on for Fall 2012, although here they read more like Barbour jackets and less like mussed-up housewife essentials. Those paying close attention will note the abundance of rugby stripes in the Uniqlo collaboration.
The 33-piece collection will arrive on Uniqlo.com on September 21st and a selection of international stores the following day.
