Creative Directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia booked a seventh-floor roof garden at Rockefeller Center for the Oscar de la Renta Resort 2018 presentation.

With a 41-look lineup, the Resort collection features casual daytime looks included a micro-twill trench coat paired with a jacquard dress. Everyday essentials, like the denim trouser, were also elevated with an embroidered t-shirt and wool blazer.

With a palette of citrusy orange and palm green and the tropical prints and jacquards found on day and evening dresses, the collection showed strong tailoring, with a tinge of quirkiness. Garcia said they thought the late designer would approve of the playful monkey who sipped champagne on the back of an embroidered jean jacket. The denim was a definite first for the Maison. It was also seen through the square-cut, full-legged denim pants in a faded blue wash.

The scoop-neck dress in gold sequins could easily appear on a young Hollywood starlet. Meanwhile, silk ballgowns have been given fresh tea lengths or dramatic fern appliqué work.

The shoes were paired with cropped hemlines or drainpipe trousers where the footwear caleds for a simple but alluring design. Today’s show included T-strap stiletto sandals as well as styles that were wrap-tied around the ankle.
