Kate Moss collaborates on her first limited-edition jewelry collection with Brazilian designer Ara Vartanian.
“I love jewellery,” Kate Moss enthuses, “I can’t walk past a jewellery shop without seeing something I love.”
The pair first met in Sao Paolo years ago, when Kate visited Vartanian’s store to commission a tanzanite ring, but it wasn’t until last year that the idea for the collection of 18-karat gold, diamond and Brazilian gemstone rings, pendants, earrings and buckles materialised.
“Ara always wore this pendant and he explained to me it was an amulet,” Moss says, “which brings good energy.”
“When we spoke about working together I said I wanted to make more jewellery like that,” Moss continues, “Pieces that have meaning and that you can wear every day.”
The collection uses red garnet as it is Kate’s birthstone. As well as garnet she also loves amethyst as she finds them more organic and spiritual. The gems are set into Vartanian’s designs of diamond moons and stars, combined with Moss’s sense of stylish freedom and asymmetry, two glistening on one ear, worn with a simple garnet stone on the other.
The collection will be available from May 17th at HarveyNichols.com and the Ara Vartanian boutique, 44 Bruton Place, London W1J.
