Music is much more than mere sound and rhythm: Kahlil Joseph wrote and directed the Kenzo ‘Music is my Mistress’ Spring 2017 film featuring Tracee Ellis Ross, Jesse Williams, Kelsey Lu and Ish from Shabazz Palaces.
This story casts music herself as the central character of an unfolding drama across cultures, space, and time.
Lensed by Durimel – this is L.A. twins Jalan and Jibril Durimel’s very first campaign – the actress stars alongside Grey’s Anatomy actor Jesse Williams and musician Kelsey Lu, label mate to Abra and King Krule.
For this collection, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon wanted to celebrate the euphoria of an assembly of cultures. A space filled to the brim with individuals whose style speaks volumes. Women who wear distinctiveness as an expression of freedom. The collection features grid-like photo formations, collages and sketches of Polaroids once loaned but never returned. These images are transposed onto varying garments, offering a new lease of life to such beautiful imagery.
The accompanying Spring 2017 visuals are a brilliant portrait series with a warm, vintage aesthetic and a contemporary sensibility.
