Designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne’s collection for the Public School Pre-Fall 2017 offering features the over-sized silhouettes along with heritage sport-style. Public School adds its own flair with distinct plaid and jacquard fabrics, all of which are anchored on a mustard yellow that shows up throughout offerings.
The collection is edgy yet feels warmer and friendlier than the items offered by Public School’s European counterparts. It’s perfect for that self-proclaimed Tomboy who loves a cozy, over-sized sweatshirt on the weekend.
Chow and Osborne used their streetwise style as a jumping-off point, proffering updates on deconstructed tailoring, super-distressed denim, and workwear-inspired separates. There was also a heavy accent on ’70s-vintage track aesthetics, with striped cuffs and collars adorning many pieces. The emphasis on asymmetry undercut the effect a bit, overcomplicating a handful of silhouettes.
