The Fendi 2017 Resort collection features volume, richness in texture and colorful decorations as the key details. With a selection of bold graphic prints, american quilting serves as a source of inspiration for designs featuring checkered patterns and patchwork style placements, serving us an incredible amount of exquisitely embroidered fabrics in bold colors, especially reds, blues, greens and yellows.
Designers Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi focus on a bold color palette of red, blue, green, yellow and neutrals. Airy silk dresses paired with fox fur coats and stoles are accessorized with open heels or flats with wavy decorations. For outerwear, khaki colored shorts or coats bring some military vibes. Elsewhere, off-the-shoulder blouses and dresses feature bold stripes with dreamy floral embroideries.
Although mainly focusing on quilting and patchwork details, Lagerfeld also took one of Fendi’s fall 2016 major motifs, namely waves, using them to decorate both the ensembles and the shoes, adding a more dynamic rhythm to the otherwise solely architectural collection.
Heavier and richer textures are seen for the billowy skirts and culotte at the same time using lightweight fabrics. Raw and sharp are the materials he used to design the more minimalistic and geometric proposals, such as the clean-cut trench coats and urban safari dresses.
