Sensuality and naturalness are the focus this season in the Missoni Spring 2016 ad campaign. A series of silhouettes and intense portraits realized in a studio against sand or ochre backgrounds, evoking abstract landscapes of sand dunes.
The ads spotlight the brand’s signature knitwear pieces and variegated patterns with a retro, ’70s inspired twist. A series of long and knee-length dresses are sleeveless or long-sleeved and shown in either a crew or v-neck. Flared skirts are coupled with matching tops. Wide-legged trousers are paired with crewneck jackets. Skin-tight tops with plunging, strappy necklines are worn under oversized men’s jackets. Trousers as tight as leggings are mixed with tube-tops. Looks feature a color palette of black and white with the sensual shades pink and pearl grey and shades of turquoise and green; rust and orange; and red and indigo.
The collection defines the Missoni woman for next summer, a woman interpreted by top model Freja Beha Erichsen.
Harley Weir created an intriguing contrast of light, monochromatic background and patterns, transforming the campaign into an intense exploration of contemporary characters, behavior and attitudes. Missoni herself was responsible for the creative direction, meanwhile Vanessa Reid styled the campaign.
