Marc Jacobs Beauty has announced Winona Ryder as the face of its 2016 ad campaign.
While she’s worked with Jacobs in the past, starring in campaigns for his fashion line, she’s never lent her doe eyes and impeccable bone structure to a cosmetics brand before.
“It’s fantastic, and it’s a huge honor,” said Ryder to Allure. “I don’t think I’ve ever done a beauty campaign before, so that’s very flattering. What I love about Marc—and there are many things—is that we both have a very similar penchant for past eras, and the history of fashion and culture. I’ve always loved the way that he incorporates all of that into his work without just ripping it off. I also love the people he chooses [to work with], because they’re so unique and so cool. And the fact that he’s included me in that group is just an enormous compliment, and it means a lot to me personally.”
The image, shot by David Sims with makeup by Diane Kendal, will appear in both print and digital campaigns for the prestige beauty brand.
In this image, Winona wears Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara, Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayons in Blacquer and (Big)Eyes!, and New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick in Strange Magic. Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara and the Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayons are a part of the new Spring 2016 collection launching in February 2016 exclusively at Sephora, select Marc Jacobs stores, and online at Sephora.com and MarcJacobsBeauty.com.
