For the Carolina Herrera Fall 2016 bridal collection, the designer embraced calm elegance, evoking sensuality through transparency and illusion. Fluid silhouettes with embellished intricate lace scallop necklines, where crystals and hand placed lace on organza, gave the impression of a painted motif bodice. Chantilly and guipure lace appliqués on tulle create a feminine shape, while sheer layering and pleats evoked a sense of overall lightness and fluidity. A neutral palette of blush tones and nude enhance this season’s sense of mystery and seductive spirit, but always leaving something for the imagination.

“A bride should be certain she has found a dress that makes her feel confident and above all else, beautiful,” said Herrera.

Sheer pleating, scalloped necklines and guipure lace appliqués into the gorgeous lineup of mostly V-neck styles — which Herrera finds most universally flattering — with the décolletage and neckline as the focal point of each gown. Elsewhere, a racer-back crop top and skirt look had a uniquely sporty, modern feel. The single strapless look, a ballgown with a green-and-pink hand-painted floral bodice, featured a voluminous skirt with varying layers of frothy tulle.

Herrera said that above all she wants her bride to be beautiful, and seductive, but not overtly sexy. “There are other opportunities to be sexy,” she said. “You have to leave a little to the imagination, a little mystery.”
