Chanel No. 5 spokeswoman Gisele Bündchen stars alongside Michiel Huisman in the perfume campaign’s new short film, ‘The One That I Want,’ which was produced, conceived, and directed by filmmaker Baz Luhrmann. It’s a collaboration between the world’s highest-paid model and one of Hollywood’s most talented directors, for the bestselling iconic 1921 fragrance.
We see Gisele riding the waves in a Chanel wetsuit with a Chanel surfboard, Gisele with big wavy hair in two different sparkly, bold dresses, and Gisele prancing through a damp and dark New York alleyway.
The film tells the story of a woman who struggles to find space for everything — herself, family, career, and love. “The Chanel woman can be with herself on a beach, can be with her child, can have an aspirational and fulfilling work life, and at the same time she can have a true relationship; she can have romance,” says Luhrmann.
The athletic-meets-glam approach to this new ad harks back to Coco Chanel’s early designs, which emphasized practical sportswear and the use of jersey.
In addition to promoting the No. 5 fragrance with this film, Bündchen was the face of Chanel’s Les Beiges beauty campaign and she turned heads on the Chanel runway during Paris Fashion Week this September. According to a statement released by the brand earlier this year, Bündchen’s “natural beauty and modern femininity” make her a fit for the campaigns. She’s joined the ranks of Bratt Pitt, Marilyn Monroe and Nicole Kidman, who have also represented this timeless fragrance.
