Alice Temperley’s upbeat Spring 2015 collection for Temperley London marked a welcome change in direction for the designer. She recently integrated the more casual Alice by Temperley brand into her glamorous mainline collection, and the resulting merger, which aimed at taking a woman from day to night, was a study in contrasts.
“It was great to focus solely on an amazing show collection with more daywear, core pieces and loads of very versatile separates,” explained Temperley pre-show to Vogue.
She teamed lavish eveningwear and girly skirts and dresses with tailored separates — and a new collection of lace-up sneakers. One sequin-embroidered evening gown was worn with a cropped white tuxedo jacket, while a pink suit was worn with shorts and a long white laser-cut skirt that wafted in the model’s wake. Temperley’s love of caftans and kimonos inspired the loose and flowing outerwear, while a densely embroidered tulle minidress was a reminder of the brand’s signature haughty glamour.
“The Temperley girl is more relaxed with a very sexy attitude,” the designer pointed out.
