Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon and Carol Lim far exceeded their unconventional standards with the Spring 2015 collection.

To stage their spring collection, Leon and Lim partnered with Spike Jonze and Jonah Hill to produce a one-act play, shown backwards, at the Metropolitan Opera. The oddly surreal sensation of the curtain lifting to reveal the Opera’s expansive auditorium was only the tip of the iceberg in terms of absurdist flutterings. The show featured actress Elle Fanning in a piscine-print neoprene dress, buddying up to Dree Hemingway in her graphic twill romper.

The collection featured a nineties essence with color-pops and prints, and a nostalgic twang via a kind of non-flashiness—for all the peripheral noise, this was a relatively subdued and matured Opening Ceremony collection. Bi-chrome trousers, pale-pink bonded utility vests, and even a crewneck pattern.
