Paris-based clothing label Sandro has opened its first flagship store in Milan located at Via Manzoni, 16 B. The 1,022-square-foot boutique carries the brand’s women’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections. This is Sandro’s second store in Italy, where the French label opened a unit in Rome, on Via del Babuino, in December 2013.

Using a mix of fine materials such as wood and marble, the new boutique features soft colors on the walls and a Venetian floor. Giving a nod to the Scandinavian minimalist style, unobtrusive LED lighting were used to enhance the design of the ceiling.

New stores are expected in Turin and Florence, with the latter location set to carry both men’s and women’s ready-to-wear. Founded in 1984 in Paris by Didier and Evelyne Chetrite, Sandro is part of the SMCP Group. SMCP also controls fellow French brand Maje, which will arrive in Italy this year with two locations, one in Rome, the other in Milan.

“We are extremely interested in expanding in Italy, a country where people are very sensitive to fashion,” said Fabio Mancone, head of global branding and business development strategies of SMCP Group.

In addition, he said that this year Sandro, which in August is launching its revamped Web site featuring an online store, will also open a boutique in Florence.
