Without actually bleaching the garments, Tomas Maier worked the bleached effect with a corrosion technique for the Bottega Veneta Resort 2015 collection, often overprinting them to enhance the result on fabrics like cotton poplin and crepe sable. Many of the patterns looked organic with spots and blotches, while others were manipulated into floral motifs, such as on a pastel blue shirt. For evening, the treatment was used on several beautiful black sleeveless maxidresses featuring painterly blush touches.
The accessories also played into the theme: bags were artfully sliced with the house’s signature intrecciato for a delightful look that appeared as if they, too, were caught in the wrong cycle.
